The most pressing need was to create a supported children's contact centre in Dover District. At this time families in the Dover District have to travel as far as Folkestone and Canterbury to reach a Child Contact Centre, and even then there are long waiting lists for this much-needed facility.
Cordomus' first project, therefore, is to provide a supported Child Contact Centre facility in Deal. Later, we plan to create a law centre for free family law advice and representation, which will also be a centre for mediation and family therapies. We will also be creating projects to provide continuing support to victims of domestic abuse beyond the crisis management stage and will work closely with the South Kent Domestic Abuse Forum, Kent County Constabulary and other support services in this respect
Cordomus supported Child Contact Centre will open in the summer of 2010 and will run with the aid of volunteers, so that non-resident parents can see their children in a safe and neutral environment, while separations or divorces go ahead.
